Types of Motorcycle Insurance for Delivery Riders - LINEMAN, GRAB, Food Panda, Lalamove, Robinhood, Kerry
Many riders who rely on their motorcycles for regular delivery services often seek assurance and peace of mind during their rides. However, they may not be aware of the available insurance options, their value for the premiums paid, or the expected coverage in case of accidents. This uncertainty is a common concern for many individuals. To provide clarity, motorcycle insurance for delivery riders can be categorized into four main types, each offering distinct protection.
Type 1 Insurance
Coverage for third-party liability
Clear responsibility for bodily injury, life, and health of third parties in the event that they are injured or killed. The insurance company will be fully responsible according to the policy.
Responsibility for third-party property In the event of an accident resulting in damage to the property of a third party, such as colliding with another vehicle on the road where the insured party is at fault, the insurance company will be responsible.
Vehicle coverage (repairs, theft, fire, flooding)
Repairs - The coverage for vehicle repairs under Type 1 policy will cover the cost of repairing the vehicle in the event of an accident or collision. The insurance company will assess the repair costs within the insurance coverage limit specified in the motorbike or big bike insurance policy. For repairs under a dealership policy, the customer can take the vehicle to a service center of that particular brand. However, for repairs under a garage policy, the vehicle must be taken to a garage affiliated with the insurance company.
Theft - The coverage for stolen vehicles will be provided within the coverage limit specified in the motorbike or big bike insurance policy. If the insured vehicle is stolen due to theft, the insurance company will investigate and process the claim accordingly.
Fire - For coverage against damage caused by fire to the insured vehicle, all Type 1 policies provide coverage for fire damage. The insurance company will cover the damage to the vehicle resulting from a fire within the coverage limit specified in the insurance policy. This coverage applies when the vehicle is damaged by a fire originating from within the vehicle.
Flooding - For coverage against damage caused by flooding, customers need to check the policy details of each insurance company since the coverage for flooding may vary. Typically, coverage for flooding is included in all Type 1 policies, and the insurance company will cover the damage to the vehicle within the coverage limit specified in the policy.
Coverage for the insured, the driver, and passengers
Liability for bodily injury to the insured or the driver, as well as passengers in the insured vehicle covered under a Type 1 insurance policy, will be covered, and medical expenses will be paid in the event of injury. In the case of death or permanent disability, compensation will be provided.
Responsibility arising from cases where the insured vehicle is covered by a Type 1 insurance policy and is lost or involved in a fire will be compensated through the legal process with the police. Once the investigation confirms the veracity of the claim, compensation for the damages agreed upon will be provided.
Type 1 insurance is considered the most comprehensive coverage. It provides coverage for all types of insurance (in simpler terms, it covers everything), and currently, there are many promotions available that make Type 1 insurance affordable. Therefore, we recommend purchasing Type 1 insurance compared to other types.
Type 2+

The difference between Type 1 and 2+ insurance lies in the presence or absence of a counterpart involved in the claim. With Type 1 insurance, claims can be made without a counterpart (even if you collide with a post or a wall, you can still claim). However, for Type 2+ insurance, claims can only be made when a counterpart can be identified. In the case of Type 2+ insurance, the counterpart must be another vehicle, such as a car or a motorcycle.
In Type 1 insurance, you have the flexibility to claim for damages without needing to identify another party involved in the accident. This means that even if the accident is caused by colliding with an inanimate object like a post or a wall, you can still make a claim and receive compensation for the damages.
On the other hand, Type 2+ insurance requires the identification of a counterpart involved in the accident. This counterpart must be another vehicle, such as a car or a motorcycle. If you are involved in an accident with another vehicle, you can make a claim through your Type 2+ insurance, specifying the counterpart involved.
Type 3+
