Phu Quoc Sandbox
This pilot program is the first step towards reopening Vietnam to foreign tourism. The plan allows fully vaccinated travelers to enter the nation. There are certain restrictions. Travelers must join a package trip and may only visit certain regions on the island of Phu Quoc.
Preparation:
1. Obtain the necessary visa.
2. A passport that is valid for at least 6 months.
3. Present a negative test result obtained no more than 72 hours prior to your departure for Vietnam. Alternatively, you may provide an ATK test that was completed no more than 24 hours before your trip.
4. Please provide evidence of medical insurance.
5. You must complete the Medical declaration form within 12 hours of your departure. This will generate a QR code, which you must produce upon entrance.
Vietnam’s Foreign “Expert” Visa
You can also apply for a Foreign Expert Visa for foreigners who want to live and work in Vietnam for a longer period of time. This method is long and complicated and you must also be quarantined on arrival for 21 days.

Extra cost:
Non-resident foreigners will need COVID-19 travel insurance. It must cover probable hospitalization, treatment, and quarantine expenses if medically necessary. Must cover COVID-19 treatment, with a $10,000 minimum liability.
Internal travel restrictions:
There are still some internal travel restrictions depending on covid cases.
Face covering:
In Vietnam, wearing a mask is required in all indoor public locations. Failure to wear a mask can result in a heavy fine.
Border crossing:
All borders are currently closed for travelers.
